The Specialized Supplement Program (SSP) offered by the Vitalite Health Network is for children and youth aged 18 and under with medical conditions that require specialized products to meet 80%* or more of their energy and nutritional needs in order to sustain life, prevent serious disability, or prevent death. The SSP provides costly and difficult to access specialized nutritional products. *Exception applies for metabolic disease.
Note: This program only covers nutritional products. It does not cover feeding supplies such as tubes or machines.
Who Qualifies?
The Specialized Supplement Program is for New Brunswick children and youth from birth to 18 years of age who must get 80% or more of their daily energy and nutritional needs from specialized nutrition products.
To apply for the Tube and Supplemental Feeding Program, your pediatrician and clinical dietitian will need to complete a form documenting the need for the product. Yearly or bi yearly referrals are required at a minimum for continued participation in this program.
